Future proof marine power and economy
Hydrogen fuel cells – a secure investment
It is possible to choose zero emissions right from the start. Hydrogen fuel cells are already fitted to several ships and to many other applications: buses, trucks, trains, stationary power, the list goes on. By choosing fuel cell technology there will be no need to re-invest in retrofitting during your ship’s lifecycle. You will be at the forefront of technology and operationally secure for the next 25 years.
The perfect alternative to diesel or batteries
A hydrogen fuel cell setup, including electrical engines, takes up little space, produces almost no noise or vibrations and requires limited maintenance. There is also hydrogen available today coming from industrial byproducts. That way you can drastically lower GHG emissions today and move to true zero emissions.
The current generation fuel cells systems and deployment of hydrogen supply infrastructure benefits hydrogen electrification solutions installed on vessels operating inland and on coastal routes. Fixed route ferries demand a power range from 100 kW up to Megawatts. To create operating efficiencies and a commercial business case, vessels should be operating on a fixed route where refueling stations and hydrogen supply hubs are deployed.
These hubs will create opportunities for sector coupling and will be essential for the deployment of hydrogen.
